How To Make Chestnut Soup Chinese Style

Step 1: Wash Chestnuts

Firstly, we should wash the chestnuts. We use 10 chestnuts for this soup. The chestnuts we bought have been peeled by the salesperson. We just need to wash it. Then save it for later.

Step 2: Wash Pork Ribs

Second, we should wash 200g pork ribs. More pork ribs can add more thick taste to the soup. If you buy it from the market, you can ask the salesperson to help you chop the pork ribs. Because it needs a special cutter to chop it.

Step 3: Prepare Ginger

Before cooking this soup, we still need to prepare 6 slices of ginger for this food. It has much use in the next steps.

Step 4: Prepare Red Dates

Now we still need to prepare 5 red dates for this soup. Cut the red date and denucleate. Then cut it into small pieces. Save it for later.

Step 5: Blanch Pork Ribs

Next, we should blanch pork ribs. Firstly, add some water and 3 slices of ginger into the pan. Use a big fire to heat it. After the water has boiled, add pork ribs into the pan to blanch. When the pork ribs turn white, drain and save it for later.

Step 6: Cook Chestnut Soup

Now we can cook this soup. Add 3 slices of ginger, pork ribs, chestnut, red dates into the pan. Then pour 800ml water into the pan. Use the big fire to boil it. After it is boiled, use the soft fire to cook it for 30 minutes.

Step 7: Wash Goji Berries

When the soup is cooking, we can wash 5g goji berries for this soup. Then drain and save them for later.

Now we should add goji berries into the pan. After the soup has cooked for 20 minutes, add goji berries into the pan. Please don’t add the goji berries too early. That can cause the sour into the soup.
