How To Make Taiwan Iron Egg
The Taiwan iron egg is a special version of soy egg, a snack from Chinese Taiwan. They are considered a delicacy and originated in the Tamsui District of New Taipei City. If you plan to travel to Taiwan, we recommend you to try this. But you still can enjoy it to follow our steps to cook it. Although it will take much time to cook it I think it will be well worth trying. The iron egg consists of small eggs(likes quail eggs) that have been repeatedly stewed in a mix of spices(includes star anise, bay leaves, fennel, licorice root, black cardamoms, Chinese cinnamon, ginger) and air-dried. The resulting eggs are dark brown on the outside, chewy in texture, and very flavourful compared to standard boiled eggs. It has been said to taste "sweet, spicy and slightly salty with a concentrated egg flavor—a great snack with drinks".
